Yoshida Purchases Top Mare Sarafina

Sarafina, who finished fourth as the 2-1 favorite in the $2,727,000 Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT), has
reportedly been purchased by Teruya Yoshida’s Shadai Farm for approximately £5 million.
According to the Racing Post, the sale of the mare previously owned by owner-breeder H. H. Aga Khan was brokered by American-based bloodstock agent Eugenio Colombo.
Colombo declined comment and referred all inquiries to the Aha Khan’s French operation, which did not return phone calls.
The Racing Post reported that
the 5-year-old daughter of Refuse to Bend will be bred to top Japanese stallion Deep Impact, a son of Sunday Silence who stands at Shadai Farm.
