Botti, Arpinati took his first three career starts,

including the 2013 G3 Premio Passi, and closed out

that portion of his career with a third-place effort as the

favorite in the G1 Gran Criterium di Milano that

October. The bay finished second in his first two tries

this term, was a decent fourth to Beauty Only (Ire)

(Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) in the Hong Kong Classic

Mile Jan. 18 and just failed to catch top Hong Kong Derby

candidate Luger (Aus) (Choisir {Aus}) in a Class 2 over

1600 meters Feb. 15. Favored in this interport event at

7-10, Arpinati made use of a low draw to save ground

from mid-division and crept into contention on the turn

before coming away from the inside to launch his bid

400 meters out.  Blocked in upper stretch, Arpinati finally

found a gap one off the fence, punched through and took

a six-way photo for the win, as Pikachu (NZ) (Keeper {Aus})

got up for second in a wild finish.

Sold by Eugenio Colombo to Hong Kong in 2013.
